Episode 75

March 9, 2008 7:14 pm

Well, no surprises here.  I will say that all of you who were mad at me for drawing robots with beards will be made livid by this one.  She's a robot if I say she is!

So, I won't make any promises this time about the next episode.  There are a couple things that are going to happen first, however.  For one thing I am going to update that art page with some of the stuff I've been making in the past few months, and I'm also going to try to find some new links for the links page.  When I make the art update, I'll make a front page post about it, so you folks with feeds, don't get too excited, okay?

  1. can robots have expressions? i love the last panel.

when u say u won't make any promises concerning the next episode: there will be another one.. right? am i right in assuming the journey will continue until Pluto?

do u have a page or posting somewhere that describes your drawing/scanning/colouring process?

    thanks for the episode!

  2. "Where's you're beau?"

Sorry, I can't stop myself from pointing these things out.

  3. SO glad to see you back again. (Thank Asimov for RSS feeds.)

Are you thinking that people will complain about the teeth? Hell - if Robots need to eat, then they need teeth. If they need to emulate human psychological responses, then they need teeth, and hair, and all that. You've already addressed these concerns (back on the Moon).

  4. to AAAAA:
No apology necessary. God, how embarrassing. It's in the preview, too.

Funny thing is, I put in all those apostrophes manually, and I so pride myself on not making that mistake the other way round (your for you're).

    to 5tephe:

I was more worried about the lips.

    to shamus:

The process is nothing special; I just pencil and ink the panels on paper, then scan them in and color them (rather hastily) in Photoshop. It might be of interest to note (and I think I've said this before) that the shape of the panels is that of a CD jewel box. At first I used the Beatles Revolver, then for a while I used Einstuzende Neubauten Halber Mensch, and for the last few I've used Laurie Anderson Mr. Heartbreak. Read into that what you will.

  8. Wonderful comic. Long time reader, I check every now and then to see if you update. RSS feeds might be nice, but they take out the surprise when you check patiently. I don't mind if ths comic is finishes on the year 3000, it has been one of the best online comics I've seen.
A question though, are you going to make the 69th comic sometime? it seems like a lonely spot in the continuity. Keep up the good work.

  9. I think it's a testament to the quality of the comic that so many people check during that long of a break. I dunno, I really hope you keep working on this. I remember reading this pretty early in high school, and I would have liked to have been able to finish out my senior year with it. Hey, maybe by the end of college, eh?

  14. The anticipation is always just a little excruciating, but I forgive you on the grounds of consistantly gorgeous work and your reassurances that this strip wont be the last.

I'm always happy to see a new one, but take your time. I, for one, certainly wont stop checking back. Thank you for the story!
